Swetarteam

Sweet Tart Creamy.

You cannot really go wrong with those 3 adjectives and then through in strawberries, balsamic, and pistachios…HEAVEN.

About a week ago my lovely coworker and I were discussing food and the constant internal game of “what weird combo might actually work” was being played in my head.  Here is what I created and for once actually tried…and I honestly really liked it…a lot.  I would totally serve this to company if anyone ever came and stayed with me :)

Ingredients:

Strawberries- washed, heads chopped off and cored

image

Cream: Greek Yogurt, Sugar and Vanilla extract (or go freak healthy like me and do Fat Free Yogurt, Splenda and the vanilla)

image

Balsamic Reduction: Balsamic, sugar, vanilla, dark chocolate and cocoa powder (again for the freaks out there: balsamic, spenda, vanilla, 1 oz dark chocolate and cocoa powder…yeah there is NO way getting around this one.  Plus there are antioxidants in there. Promise, that is what the internets told me)

Extra Necessities:

Topping: PISTACHIOS.

Wine: Abacela Tempranillo

Note: Buy 2 bags of nuts.  A) They are usually on sale at Safeway 2/1 and I am a cheapie…and if you are anything like me, you will have poured yourself a glass of the wine already and the pistachios will be tasting heavenly with the dark delish sexy succulent temp.

End result.  A round of applause.  Tantalized taste buds, happy heart and salt, sweet, cream, crunch, tart, and delish parts of our needs are met.  Win win if you ask me.  :)

Steps:

1.  Hollow the berries, blend the cream stuff together and reduce the balsamic.  Easy Peasy.

2.  Fill a ziplock baggie with the cream, cut a bottom corner then pump it into the berries.  Just like an expensive cream pastry filler…but not expensive.   Winner Winner Chicken Dinner.

image3.  Drizzle the chocolate/balsamic reduction over the berries and comence the drool.  CAUTION: smells and tastes amazing but a good solid lick to the balsamic spoon causes some slight discomfort in the acid portion of the mouth.  t.a.r.t.

image   4. Deck the prettiness with salty crunchy love.

Pistachio!

image5.  enjoy.  no directions needed
